Inpatient surgery costs have risen 30% in the last 5 years and account for 52% of hospital operating costs. It is estimated that each year in the US, $5 billion is wasted on unused materials as a result of out of date surgeon preference cards.

Excess instrumentation is a significant contributor to surgical costs, as on average only 13-21% of instruments opened for a case are actually used. Preference card optimization can also eliminate over 10,000 hours of personnel labor for transport and restocking.

OpFlow has partnered with Steris IMS to deliver a solution that provides significant cost savings for hospitals and healthcare systems by reducing waste, rationalizing surgical instrument trays and improving efficiency among the operating room team.
