Scientific presentation on OpFlow project receives award at NC Orthopaedic Association annual meeting!

We are honored that the presentation of an OpFlow implementation for orthopedic instrument tray optimization received the Resident Paper Award in the general interest section of this past weekend's 2021 NC Orthopaedic Association Annual Meeting!

The authors reported on data from 192 cases across 22 primary orthopedic surgeons, with an average baseline usage of 17.7% of instruments per tray. OpFlow was able to achieve an average reduction of 37.5% per tray for a total of 4,279 instruments removed from the trays in scope. That resulted in 130,421 fewer instruments that need to be processed each year for those trays.

For the hospital, that means an instrument re-purchase cost avoidance of $384,168 and a decrease in annual sterile processing expense of $139,550 for those trays. Moreover, there was a central/sterile processing work hour reduction of 599 hours annually.

OpFlow continues to see a significant opportunity for instrument tray optimization for Orthopedics service lines at hospitals across the country and greatly appreciate the 2021 NCOA Award!
