OpFlow Data Analysis: Instrument Usage Concordance at 6 Different Hospitals

Ever wonder how much similarity there is in the instruments that are used by surgeons at different hospitals for the same types of procedures?

OpFlow analyzed our usage data for six of the most common Vascular Surgery cases, performed by surgeons at 6 different hospital systems across the country.

We found that (as expected) there was consistently low usage (22.7%) of instruments that were opened per case across the board – AND there was a highly significant correlation (P<.0001) among the instruments that were used by those surgeons at different hospitals.

That is further proof that despite wide variation in tray setup at different hospitals, the same massive opportunity exists to streamline trays when empowered by actual usage data. In fact, OpFlow achieved an average instrument reduction of 28.1% for vascular surgery trays across those 6 hospital systems!
